In the modern age, the consistency and quality of your ‘brand’ is paramount to the success of your music career. In previous decades, bands would have had to travel thousands of miles, through hundreds of cities just to build a bit of excitement around them. Now, with less than 10 taps on a screen, you can deliver bespoke content, across the globe, to interested fans. But to do this, you will need to create an online platform of your material – enter, Squarespace.
Squarespace offers you the chance to build a website, tailored to your needs, with the help of award-winning templates. But that’s not all it does. Check out below to find out the various benefits of Squarespace
Templates and Designs
- ⦁ When setting up a website, the most difficult part for many of us is trying to find where to begin. Let’s face it, we aren’t trained coders. But that is where the professionalism of Squarespace comes in – it is pre-loaded with a variety of themes and colour schemes. Therefore, even for the more tech-phobic website designers, you will be given a helping hand when starting out your site
⦁ The varied selection of website templates allows the user to try out a range of colours, fonts, pictures, and colourful backdrops – all without adversely affecting the information/material you have already uploaded
⦁ All of the designs and templates preloaded on the site look extremely professional. Therefore, even if you aren’t very confident with your first website design, the professional strength of Squarespace’s variety of website layouts will help your website pop!
Customizable design
Getting your CDs in store is a bit like skinning a cat; there’s quite a few ways to do it. To help, we’ve laid out the most popular methods below:
- We know that you won’t want to copy the pre-loaded templates forever, and so does Squarespace. They allow you to edit each design however you see fit, there is no set or locked-in layout attached to each website template.
- Once familiar with the website’s mechanics, you can then adapt the templates to your own website’s needs and make your website stand out from the crowd. This malleability will help you become more and more confident with how you want your website to appear
- Squarespace will never leave you hanging out to dry. Throughout their website builder, whether you use a template or not, you will receive helpful tips on how to improve your unique site
Blogging feature
- First things first, blogging is not just an uncool thing from the 1990s. Actually, it is a core component of any comment-based website. Therefore, if you are planning to have a blog-centric website, we would strongly encourage using Squarespace
- On Squarespace, you can host multi-author comment driven blogs, schedule further blog posts and even host your podcast!
Support!
- Another benefit of Squarespace is it’s willingness to help you. Aside from the helpful tips it will provide during your website build, you can also ask any website-related question to the site’s Live Chat
- On top of this continual support, Live Chat help has also been known to include video demonstrations on how to solve your queried issues. Of course, this will not apply to every problem but the administrators have been known to record quick screencasts to help those in dire need
In 2021, there are more ways than ever to get your music out there. Of course, the newest avenue of delivery is TikTok (which has reached over 1 billion downloads), but there remains a simplicity of strength in a website.
But, that doesn’t mean you should just have a website for the sake of it. You should use every tool at your disposal as well as possible to maximise the chances of your musical success. And Squarespace can definitely help with that.
Here are some tools on Squarespace which can help your musical career.
- Musical Templates – the site offers you a range of editable website designs and templates, which means that you can trial out a variety of options before choosing the best. This best version can then be populated with your unique musical photography, content, and related information. And thanks to Squarespace’s high-quality templates, your website’s appearance will remain attractive
- SEO – this is an acronym for Search Engine Optimisation, and its inclusion on the site is fantastic news for you. It will allow you to customise page titles, image descriptions, meta-descriptions, and even URLS to ensure that your website’s material comes up higher on Google searches than before.
- Members only section – this function allows you to create a members-only section of your website. Within this you can upload whatever material you like, such as hidden music, secret media releases, and so on. But by creating a hidden section of your site, you can offer your fans exclusive access and drive further interest in your music.
- Mobile app – Squarespace actually has 5 different apps; however you will probably only need the name brand one. This app allows you to edit your website on-the-go, perfect for a touring musician who wants to react to fan interaction quickly and effectively.
Hope that was helpful!
Thanks,
Rory
A wee word from Tom :
Over the past 10 or so years I’ve been using to create websites (this website is created on WordPress engine) and the learning curve was…really really steep. I’m not saying I’m not happy with the WordPress because I’m but if back then Squarespace would be available to me I’d not think twice.
