J Cole Album Cover
Hey there! So, on April 18, 2018, J. Cole showed off the cover art for his album. Detroit artist Kamau Haroon, also known as Sixmau, was the creative genius behind it. Cole found Sixmau through singer and producer Childish Major, and their collaboration was all about blending art and music. Sixmau told Vibe magazine that Cole shared the direction he was going in, and then let him express it his own way.
The album’s title has three meanings: Kids on Drugs, King Overdosed, and Kill Our Demons.
On April 19, 2018, Cole dropped a trailer explaining the title. He talked about how society is quick to medicate for any problem, which is the “Kids on Drugs” part. “King Overdosed” represents Cole himself and the different ways he’s tried to escape, like through alcohol or phone addiction.
Finally, “Kill Our Demons” is about facing and dealing with our own issues, whether it’s childhood trauma or insecurities.
Cole believes that by being honest with ourselves and confronting these problems, we can break free and heal.
