How do I protect my digipak CDs?
Taking care of your Digipak CDs is one of the main things you have to do to make sure your Digipak CDs last forever (and if you don’t know what the difference is between a Digipak and a CD you can read it here)
The vary last thing you want is for your freshly duplicated or replicated CDs to get scratched and ultimately stop working.
In this article I’ll show you exactly how to:
- store your Digipak CDs
- clean your Digipak CDs
- what to use as a outer sleeve for more protection
How to store Digipak CDs
When it comes to safely storing your Digipak CDs you want to make sure that you stack them upright.
This will not only provide security to the disc itself but also look great and display the spine text correctly.
Remember not to squeeze your Digipaks when stored on the shelf. Make sure you leave enough “breathing” space for each CD for easier pulling out of the shelve and putting it back in.
How to clean Digipak CD
Cleaning your Digipak CD case is different than cleaning your Jewel Case. Digipak is made out of card stock, so it cannot be cleaned the same way as plastic cases.
To clean the Digipak CD case, follow these steps:
- Find a clean, soft cloth and make sure it is completely dry (this removes any chance of debris or dust gathering on the cloth)
- Find a dirty spot on your Digipak case and start rubbing (gently) it off with the dry cloth toward the edge of the case
- If the dirt won’t come off this way add a little water to the cloth and repeat the process
- If your Digipak CD case is still dirty Dampen the cloth with a mixed solution of soap and water and repeat the movement
Outer sleeves for Digipak CDs
The final way to protect your Digipak CD is to get an outer sleeve.
Those sleeves are usually plastic, wide enough to cover your Digipak case.
I found that the best place to get the outer sleeves is actually at Amazon. The choice there is pretty good, and you can always return then if you don’t like them.
Hope that was helpful!
Thanks,
Tom
