Leicester, a city in the East Midlands of England, is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and significant contributions to the arts. But let’s not forget, it’s also the birthplace of some of the UK’s most toe-tapping, head-banging, and soul-soothing musicians. So, grab your backstage pass, and let’s dive into the rock ‘n’ roll rollercoaster that is Leicester’s music scene.

Kasabian, formed in Leicester, is an indie rock band that’s as hard to categorise as a chameleon in a bag of Skittles. Known for their eclectic sound that blends rock, electronica, and a whole lot of attitude, they’ve become one of the UK’s biggest bands. Their debut album ‘Kasabian’ was a commercial success, and they’ve been rocking our socks off ever since.
Jon Lord

- Interesting Fact: Jon Lord co-wrote many of Deep Purple’s most popular songs, including ‘Smoke on the Water’ (cue air guitar).
Jon Lord, born in Leicester, was a composer and a co-founder of the rock band Deep Purple. Known for his fusion of rock and classical music, Lord’s keyboard playing was as integral to Deep Purple’s sound as a hamster is to a hamster wheel. He co-wrote many of the band’s hits and continued to make music until his death in 2012.
